FAQ
How does the procedure work?
We combine a non-toxic lice shampoo with mechanical combing.

The shampoo effectively kills only the crawling insects: after treatment, the lice eggs will remain on the hair, with the lice inside unharmed.

That’s why mechanical combing is the only way to fully eliminate lice.

For combing, we use a special metal comb with spiral steel teeth, perfectly suited for thick and long hair.
What product do we use?
We use a product based on synthetic silicone oil dimethicone. Dimethicone is widely used in cosmetology, and it’s likely that there is a small amount of dimethicone in your shampoo or face cream.

Unlike insecticides and neurotoxins, dimethicone is non-toxic and doesn’t poison the lice; it works mechanically. It blocks all openings in their exoskeleton, preventing them from releasing moisture, thus killing them.

It is completely safe for humans and can even be used to treat young children.
Why is a follow-up treatment necessary?
Nits are very small, less than a millimeter long. Some of them may be located so close to the scalp that even our combs won’t be able to pick them up.

In 7–10 days, new nymphs may hatch from the remaining nits. A follow-up treatment is necessary to eliminate the nymphs before they start laying eggs and prevent the cycle from starting over.

Our comprehensive approach prevents re-infestation, saving you time and effort.
What to do after treatment?
After treatment, we recommend boiling all items that have come into contact with the head of the infested person over the past three days. This includes towels, combs, hair clips, pillowcases, stuffed toys, hats, scarves, and so on. Car seats can be thoroughly vacuumed.

What are pseudonits, and why is it important to tell them apart?
Pseudonits are particles that look like nits (lice eggs) but are not. These can include:

  • Various types of dandruff (especially dense white flakes that are hard to distinguish from nits)
  • White piedra (a fungal hair infection that forms white nodules)
  • Residue from hair products (hairspray, gel, dry shampoo)
  • Sand or other debris

Being able to distinguish pseudonits from real nits isn’t just a professional skill — it’s essential.
Without an accurate diagnosis, one might spend a long time fighting “nonexistent lice,” while overlooking the actual issue. For example, white piedra is a fungal infection that closely resembles lice infestation but requires completely different treatment — antifungal therapy.

That’s why we use a digital trichoscope — it eliminates guesswork and provides a clear answer: whether there’s a real cause for concern or it’s simply harmless dandruff.
Facts
What are lice?
Lice are small insects that feed on blood.
There are three types of lice that parasitize humans: head lice, body lice, and pubic lice.
We treat head lice specifically — they are the most common, especially in schools and kindergartens.

Human head lice live only on humans — you can’t catch them from a dog, cat, or any other animal. While mammals and birds can also have lice, they are a completely different species.

Lice can’t fly or jump, but they are excellent crawlers. It only takes a second for a louse to crawl from one person’s hair to another.
What are nits?
Nits are the eggs of head lice.
They are very small (less than a millimeter) and look like round, translucent capsules with a tiny tail. Female lice attach them to the base of the hair using a special glue that is so strong, it’s difficult to remove even by pulling with your fingers.

In 7–10 days, nymphs hatch from the eggs and later grow into adult lice.

As long as the embryo is inside, the nit is hair-colored and very hard to spot. Once the nymph hatches, the shell turns white and becomes more visible — especially on dark hair.
Why does your head itch?
A head louse feeds on its host’s blood about five times a day.

When it bites, it releases saliva containing substances that can cause an allergic reaction. Usually, it takes many bites and a buildup of saliva before an allergy develops — it can take up to two weeks before you start feeling any itchiness.

That’s why most infestations go unnoticed for a long time. However, not everyone is allergic to lice saliva, so some people don’t feel anything at all, even when hundreds of lice are already present in their hair.

It’s impossible to feel lice “crawling” on your head. Over thousands of years of evolution, they’ve mastered the art of being completely stealthy and undetectable.

The only physical sensation you might experience with lice is the irritation caused by an allergic reaction to their saliva.
Why is having lice not shameful?
Statistics show that between 6 and 12 million people get head lice every year. And this number is only increasing, especially in large cities.

Lice are among the oldest and most loyal companions of humans. They’ve been with us for at least 25 million years, adapting and evolving alongside us.

There’s nothing scary, shameful, or even unusual about lice — it’s just a common condition, like the flu.

Anyone can get lice: they don’t care about your social status or personal hygiene. In fact, clean hair is preferred by lice over dirty hair, as dirty hair is slippery and harder for them to crawl on.

Embarrassment can prevent people from seeking help and solving the problem quickly.
